Andy Ponzini of Delta, BC, passed away on June 12, 2024. He was an active, long-time member of the British Columbia DX Club, an avid and accomplished DXer who travelled the world for radio and great fishing.
His globe-trotting included service with the US Army infantry in Vietnam in 1967, where he may or may not have operated a bootleg DX station using a Harris field service radio, hand key and batteries. He also visited Eastern Kiribati (T32), Belize (V31), Slovenia (S5), Finland (OH). He moved his family to British Columbia in 1972.
Our condolences to Andy's wife Marion and their sons, extended family and his many friends at home and around the world. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
